One of the most rewarding ways we do this is by partnering with outstanding local organizations that make a lasting impact. This year, we are proud to support Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to honoring southeastern Wisconsin’s WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans.
A Mission of Gratitude and Healing
Since its founding in 2008, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has provided more than 10,500 local veterans with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C. This experience allows veterans—many of whom never received a proper welcome home—to visit the memorials dedicated to their service, experience camaraderie with fellow veterans, and, most importantly, receive the gratitude they so deeply deserve.
The impact of these trips is profound. Veterans who may have carried the emotional weight of their service for decades find healing and peace through this experience. Korean War Army veteran Marvin Rose was initially hesitant to take part in the Honor Flight, still holding onto anger from his time in service. But after traveling with his daughter, Pam, he found a sense of closure he never thought possible. “He is at peace now, and this trip has changed my dad forever,” Pam shared. “This was truly life-changing for our family.”
