Strengthening Connections in the New Year
Hello everyone and Merry Christmas! I hope you’re able to relax, recharge, and spend ample time with your families over the next few weeks.
Looking back at 2018, I can’t believe how fast the world moves. Technology seems to be the driving force behind everything these days, whether it’s Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, email or text messages. It’s wonderful how technology facilitates communication and allows us to stay in touch with friends and family, whether we’re taking part in their accomplishments or supporting their struggles.
The ubiquity of technology and its ability to connect us with others really hit home for my family when our oldest son Connor went to Marine Corps Boot Camp this summer. At boot camp, my son and his fellow recruits were cut off from the outside world for the better part of three months: no texts, emails, or social media. As anxious parents, all we could do was write letters. Those few months were challenging for everyone involved, but in the end, going without technology made the journey more rewarding for my son, and we couldn’t be more proud of him.
In the same way that we’ve watched our world change due to advances in technology and the increased social connectivity that results, our agency has had the joy of watching your families change over time. We’ve seen your children grow up and get their driver’s license, graduate high school and college, move out of the house, purchase homes, and start families of their own. We’ve also had the pleasure of seeing you, our clients, grow in your careers and celebrate promotions, volunteer in your communities, and live out your dreams.
In sum, no matter how much your world is changing and evolving as we close out 2018, we wish you the best in the new year. As the pace of our world continues to quicken, and even as you juggle countless priorities, we hope you’ll keep us in mind. We’ll always be here to celebrate your successes and support you in your struggles. So, if you find a few free minutes this holiday season and would like to chat, be sure to give your agent a call to catch up. Whatever the case, we’d love to hear from you.
Happy New Year,
Jon Oaks
