Lindow Insurance Makes Donation to Aid Hunger and Homelessness Relief
American Advantage – Lindow Insurance Agency is donating $2,000 to aid hunger and homelessness across Milwaukee via The Gathering, a local nonprofit hunger-relief organization.
Samantha Weber, Agency Operations Specialist and Licensing Coordinator with Lindow Insurance, nominated the organization for selection. “I personally have served at The Gathering on several occasions. Seeing the smile on someone’s face, not just because of a free meal, but because of the kindness and compassion they receive is priceless.”
Established in 1982, The Gathering serves 80,000-90,000 free home-cooked meals annually to at-risk populations throughout the Milwaukee area. In addition to alleviating hunger, the nonprofit offers assistance with mental health, basic medical and legal issues, housing, and street supply distributions. The Gathering has maintained service during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing carry-out meals for their breakfast, lunch, and dinner programs.
Weber emphasizes the incredible community cultivated by The Gathering through their services. “Before I volunteered there, I really thought I was going to do something good for others by helping people. What I did not realize was going to happen was how much I myself was impacted, how my heart was touched by the interactions I had with members of the community. It changed my opinion from a ‘me helping them’ mentality to a ‘we help and serve each other’ mentality.”
This donation is part of an ongoing effort to contribute to local community organizations. Each quarter, Lindow Insurance will donate $2,000 to causes put forward by an employee nomination process.
